AVR have been preparing for Investor in People accreditation since February this year. Karen Rothwell who has co-ordinated the project said, “Over the months we have reviewed and amended our policies and procedures in line with the IIP requirements and the benefits have already started to show. Staff have made positive comments regarding our working practices. The freelance transcription team have also been involved in this process and have given positive feedback on the changes made. We are now at the final stages of evaluating the process and hope to apply for assessment by August/September this year.”
Anita Lilley, employed Audio/Visual Transcriber, comments, “AVR is a really pleasant place to work. Staff feel valued as they feel their needs are being fulfilled. They enjoy their work which reflects in the friendly rapport which they have with each other.” Sharon Llewellyn, Freelance Transcriber, says, “As a freelance transcriber I work at home and am responsible for myself. It can be quite lonely without the company and support of work colleagues around me and it's quite easy to not 'feel part of it'. However, AVR communicate with me regularly on a whole range of issues, ranging from receiving the AVR newsletters (which is great for keeping transcribers up to speed with each other's news!), right through to providing information and guidance on how to ensure our home working environments are safe. This creates a feeling of belonging and being cared about and that I'm valued as a member of the team." |
