About Us

AVR was established in 1994 by Rita Fox, who is a member of the British Institute of Verbatim Reporters.

Rita trained as a verbatim shorthand writer working on the North West and North Wales circuit until 1988, covering the Crown Court and High Court.

Rita then worked as a freelance shorthand writer and tape transcriber for firms in the North of England and London working as a team leader where daily transcription was required. Rita also worked on the English team as a reporter for the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organisation, providing a daily verbatim report of their Summer and Winter conferences in Rome.

Having established AVR, Rita began to expand her team in order to meet clients' transcription requirements. After securing various government contracts, AVR changed from a freelance based organisation to that of an employer, and relocated to larger, modern business premises on Paragon Business Park, near to the Reebok Stadium, Bolton.

In order to manage the various contracts, the company is divided into two entities; AVR Transcription Ltd and Associated Verbatim Reporters (AVR).

Our skilled team of over 20 transcribers provide high quality transcripts using advanced transcription solutions to enable short turnaround times and sound quality.
